Bulman (Gulin Gulin) is a small Aboriginal community located in Arnhem Land, approximately four hours north-east of Katherine. Together with the nearby outstation of Weemol, around 300 people live in the area. During the wet season, the road is often cut off for extended periods, making access to essential goods and services difficult for families.

Life in Bulman is strongly connected to Country, with fishing, hunting, weaving, and spending time at important places such as Weemol Spring forming part of everyday community life.

The Bulman Community Op Shop was established through Mimal Land Management’s Happy Yarning project, with support from the Bidwern Butj Uni (BBU) team. The OpShop provides affordable clothing and household items for local families, while also creating local jobs and opportunities to build skills, confidence, and experience.

As a community-led initiative, the Bulman Op Shop plays an important role in supporting wellbeing, access, and resilience in a remote and seasonally isolated setting.

👕 Clothing needed (summer & warm weather)
Loose, modest, practical clothing suitable for hot weather (30°C+), red dust, camping, and frequent washing.

High priority

• Men: shirts, polos, singlets, shorts, lightweight pants, underwear, socks, shoes (runners, work boots, thongs), caps

• Women: long elastic-waist skirts, loose dresses/tops, modest pants/shorts, underwear, bras, socks, shoes

• Kids (5–16): t-shirts, shorts/skirts, light pants, underwear

• Kids’ shoes (2–15): sandals, runners, crocs, thongs, footy boots
