My name is Vanessa Thomas, from Warmun Aboriginal Community, which is located 200km south of our major town of Kununurra.

Even just being situated on the Great Northern Highway, we’re still considered a remote community. Population with 2 outstations combined would be around 500 people. Even being so close to Kununurra, our mob still struggle with transport and financially with the cost of living these days.

The Warnum OpShop will be run local community members and it will be our project to keep it running.

The Warnum OpShop will provide families with much needed clothing and other items, and funds raised through the opshop will be put back into community for other projects such as cultural camps, hunting and camping.

This will also enable our local men who travel every week to play football and other sporting events to nearby towns — your support will keep young ones engaged and have a sense of self-pride, fostering intercommunity relationships and keeping young people involved in positive activities. It also gives young mums easy access to much needed items for their babies.
